Abstract:

The photoionization of the C2+ ion in the ground state has been studied. The R-matrix method was used to calculate the cross-section between the ionization threshold and 1s24f threshold. We identified and characterized each resonance with its quantum defect, energy and width using the eigen-phase sum methodology. We discuss the interactions among resonances which explain the seemingly erratic behavior of the resonances, both energies and widths, along a resonance series. The present work is compared with experiment and calculations by other researchers.
