The Nuclear Physics Group (Dr. Megan Connors, Dr. Murad Sarsour and Dr. Xiaochun He) is hosting a Workshop on the Hadronic Calorimeter Detector for the sPHENIX Experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) on Dec 15th and 16th, 2015. This is the third workshop that is occurring on the GSU campus.
The sPHENIX Experiment is the next generation of massive particle detector system which allows physicists to characterize the properties of Quark-Gluon Plasma, the matter state of our early University a few microseconds after the Big Bang. This experiment is inspired from the recent measurements at Large Hadron Collider in Europe and the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at BNL, New York and is expected to take data in 2021.
